Dongmei (Ruth) Xie is a Registered Psychotherapist in the Province of Ontario (CRPO). She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Peking University in 1999, followed by a Master of Education in Psychology from the same university in 2004. She is also a certified facilitator of the Fear-less Positive Parenting Program.
Ruth brings extensive experience supporting clients through a wide range of life challenges, including personal growth, work and career, relationship or family difficulties and mental health concerns. With 20 years of experience in counseling and psychotherapy, she works with individuals, couples, families, and mother–infant dyads, supporting them in navigating their
unique journeys with care and expertise.
Her clinical approach integrates eclectic frameworks of Psychodynamic Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Solution Focus Brief Therapy, and Mindfulness-based Therapy. In sessions, she invites clients to explore their inner experiences with curiosity, understand how their past has shaped their personality, self-concept, and relationships, and cultivate reflective thinking to
make conscious choices about their future.
She believes that early parent–child relationships, especially with the mother, have a profound impact on the child, and offers Watch, Wait and Wonder mother–infant therapy to facilitate secure attachment.
