Community Counselling Clinic
Everyone deserves the stability and joy that comes with good mental health. But for many people, finances act as a barrier, preventing them from getting the help they need and forcing them to remain in a cycle of poor mental health. That’s why it’s so important for us to offer counselling services in which visitors can enjoy free sessions on their first three visist and continue with reduced price. By doing this we can ensure everyone in our community is able to access the mental care they need.
Why it's worth contacting our clinic
Mental health challenges show up many times throughout our lives and having access to care can be a huge help in getting through them. Many people make use of ongoing counselling to help them manage and cope with ongoing mental illness.
Many also engage in counselling to have a safe place to talk about their life experiences, release stress, and discuss any issues that come up. Despite this, quality counselling is out of reach for many Canadians, particularly in a higher cost of living city like Toronto. Finances shouldn’t be the thing holding you back from getting better, which is why we offer community counselling services for patients in need as part of Hopewoods’s community engagement project.
Our community counselling services are partnered with our community engagement project Weconnect Community, a non-government organization (NGO) that provides free quality counselling services, workshops, and support groups to Asian and Chinese Canadians in the Ontario communities. Our clients are seen by student counsellors or therapists in training under supervision by a fully trained and certified mental health professional.
What is the first step to getting help?
In order to be as accessible as possible, we offer our counselling and psychotherapy services virtually, so you can get help from anywhere, not just in Toronto.
We offer a free 30-minute consultation for each and every person who contacts us. During the consultation, we will try to understand your concerns and from a preliminary conceptualization of your current/presenting difficulties.
Getting to know a person is vital for our service to be as effective as possible, so we take our time with consultations. From here, we’ll have an understanding of the areas you need the most help with and structure sessions around them. We also consider your own goals for yourself and incorporate this into the treatment.
How can counselling help me?
Whether you’re looking for help in the short-term to work through a difficult time or are looking for more regular sessions to help you work through ongoing challenges, the effects of a great therapeutic relationship can be transformative. We’ve helped various clients in our communities work through many mental health issues and other life challenges, including:
- Sudden life changes, such as the death of a loved one, losing a job, the discovery of an illness, etc.
- Excessive worry or feelings of hopelessness
- Relationship challenges
- Depression and major depression
