Assessment Services:
Psychovocational

As adults, a large part of our time is normally spent in a professional setting. With that in mind, it only makes sense that your chosen career is a good fit for you. Some may experience difficulties in pursuing a certain career path. You may be wondering how to go about discovering a career path that suits your lifestyle, personality traits, life goals, and current life situation.

How Psychovocational Assessments
Can Help You

This is where a psychovocational assessment comes in. At Hopewoods, our trained staff members offer this service as a way to help you learn more about your unique abilities, interests, strengths, weaknesses, work style, and more. Once complete, this assessment can provide valuable information on what kind of careers might suit you, as well as give insight into potential obstacles you might face on your professional journey. From here you can begin to create a detailed plan that will guide you to success—whatever that may look like for you.

You may benefit from a psychovocational assessment if you are:

If you identify with any of the above, a psychovocational assessment can help you get the guidance and clarity you need to start making professional decisions with confidence.

How Does a Psychovocational Assessment work?

If you’ve decided that you’d benefit from some professional help in determining what kinds of vocations you’re suited for, this assessment is an excellent first step.

Our process focuses on learning about who you are through a series of sophisticated tests and interviews.

The assessment is broken up into two sessions, each running 3-4 hours. This gives us all the time we need to go in-depth as we learn more about you and will help us provide you with the most detailed, precise assessment possible.

Firstly, one of our clinicians will sit down with you for an interview. The interview will gather information about the below topics.

Topics covered include:

When the interview portion is complete, we go on to the testing portion of the assessment. Because every client is different, the exact measures used in the assessment are catered to you and your unique characteristics and experiences. However, you can expect measures that test your abilities in writing, reading, math, memory, logic, critical thinking, vocational exploration, and more.

This type of assessment examines how you think, learn, work, and apply your knowledge. And thanks to our testing system, we’re able to precisely quantify your strengths and points for improvement, providing you with vital insight that’s backed by research.

What Happens after a Psychovocational Assessment?

When the assessment is complete, our clinicians will take some time to go through everything they learned. All the information our clinicians received from your interview and results from each measure is then compiled into a detailed report.

When we’ve finished analyzing your assessment, we’ll sit down again for another meeting. In this time, we’ll go over the report and discuss everything we’ve learned, explaining all our findings on your personality, work style, and more. We’ll also provide our professional career recommendations with the assessment in mind, providing you with a list of potential options that might be exactly what you’re looking for.

As the psychovocational assessment is done comprehensively, explores your history and current state, and includes vocational exploration, our clinicians also provide insight into your psychological state. This includes a diagnosis (if there is one) as well as our observations of your mental health and recommendations for further treatments.
